Healthy Families Ōtautahi (HFŌ) Māori Systems Innovator Brandon Manuel has been appointed to the RST Network Steering Group.
Brandon is one representative of Te Kāhui Māori, a collective of Māori kaimahi from various RSTs (Regional Sports Trusts), who’s stepped into this pivotal role.
For Brandon, the role is a professional milestone and personal honour.
“It’s a great opportunity to support the RST network and a position that will provide learning opportunities,” he shares.

Brandon emphasises the privilege and responsibility of the role, which allows him to bring perspectives from a te ao Māori lens and incorporate whakaaro from Te Tiriti o Waitangi articles to the Steering Group.
He hopes this will support equitable outcomes for Māori communities in Aotearoa.
“Having oversight of the management and operations of the network is a privilege that I will respect, honour and navigate to the best of my ability,” Brandon says.
“Focusing on the articles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi will help to support the shift in different conditions to provide more equitable outcomes and opportunities for Māori kaimahi and Māori communities.”
Brandon expresses gratitude to the entire RST Network.
“I’d like to acknowledge the network members for their collective mahi across the country and their respective cultural development journeys as we’re all in this together, he waka eke noa.”
