Tū Manawa Active Aotearoa

Tū Manawa Active Aotearoa is an activation fund designed to help tamariki and rangatahi, especially those who are less active, to participate in quality play, active recreation or sport. This initiative aims to provide them with opportunities of their choice within their communities, schools or kura.

Applications MUST show evidence tamariki and rangatahi want to participate in the opportunites offered. This may be through either survey results (collated), images of a whiteboard brainstorm or feedback session, videos of young people talking etc.

The most important aspect is to demonstrate you have consulted with young people and your activity aligns with their wants and needs. You can find out more in the community guidelines and help sheet below.

Kaupapa Māori Pathway

Within the Tū Manawa fund is a kaupapa Māori pathway, for organisations seeking to deliver their activity using a “by Māori, as Māori, for Māori” approach. Applications can be submitted through this pathway in each of the three available rounds.

If you opt to apply through this pathway, simply indicate on the application form that your project aligns with kaupapa Māori. These applications will then be reviewed by a panel led by Māori from our region. You can find out more here and here.
