Sport Canterbury, in partnership with our valued sponsors, are pleased to present the Sport and Recreation Awards – a new take on our traditional sports awards.

This year, we are once again, honoured to have Crombie Lockwood on board as a sponsor for the Sporting Legends of Canterbury Award.  Legends have achieved at the highest level in their chosen sporting code, and continued service to the sporting community.

Each year Sport Canterbury inducts two sporting icons into the Sporting Legends Hall of Fame.
The definition of a Sporting Legend of Canterbury is someone who:
• Has represented the Canterbury region in their sport (Greater Christchurch, West Coast, Mid or South Canterbury)
• Is an acknowledged icon in their sport and has contributed something special through their sporting career (competing, administration, coaching)
• Continues to give back to the sporting community
• Has made an indelible impact on our community through accomplishments and their legacy
As part of the Legends Award, recipients receive a banner which will be displayed in Parakiore – the new Metro Sports Facility in Ōtautahi.

Crombie Lockwood and Sport Canterbury have had a long relationship spanning over many years. The Ōtautahi branch enjoy the opportunity to help provide sports clubs and organisations with advice around their insurance programme to ensure they have a robust programme in place, and they understand their risks.

A number of the Crombie Lockwood team are involved in a variety of different codes across Ōtautahi with sport and physical activity being such an important part of our community, it is woven into the company’s DNA. Crombie Lockwood encourage sport and recreation across all levels of business - there are often Crombie Lockwood teams involved in a variety of sporting events both socially and competitively. A flexible work environment is key to enable those representing their sporting codes to achieve a healthy balance between their sporting pursuits and employment.
