Keeping our communities active and inspired relies on opportunities to collaborate - and we are so thankful to Shoe Clinic for helping us stay one step ahead.
As the Regional Sports Trust for the Canterbury West Coast region, we believe that people of all ages and abilities deserve opportunities to keep active.
In a collaborative approach involving Shoe Clinic and our Green Prescription and Strength and Balance teams, we continue to ensure that opportunities grow
At the start of spring, Sport Canterbury's Green Prescription Team Leader Abby Wilson, along with Strength and Balance Project Lead Rebecca Logan headed along to ‘Fun Fit,' a gentle exercise class in Hei Hei, to provide participants with a some great springtime motivation - a pair of quality shoes.
This was made possible through Sport Canterbury’s partnership established earlier this year with Shoe Clinic, who work closely with our Green Prescription team.
Shoe Clinic’s 30-day money back guarantee gives customers the chance to spend a trial period considering their shoes' form, fit and function. If the fit is not comfortable, they have the option to exchange the shoes for a new pair, or, if need be, have their purchase refunded.
Shoes returned under the 30-day guarantee are donated to various charities around Canterbury, and Shoe Clinic has made these available to Sport Canterbury's Green Prescription Programme.
Through this initiative, Abby and Becs were able to donate a pair of suitable footwear to participants in the Hei Hei class.
Shoe Clinic Riccarton and Northlands Director Shaun Farrell is committed to helping those in the Canterbury community who may be facing challenging situations.
“Since the beginning of our partnership, we have encouraged Sport Canterbury to offer the guarantee shoes to Green Prescription clients who may be struggling.”
“It’s essentially about breaking down barriers to physical activity for us,” he added.
The appreciation of this generous act was certainly reflected in the comments made by the class instructor and participants.
“The gift that’s been given from Shoe Clinic is just awesome – they came along with some freebies that the clients are going to be able to wear. Many of them couldn’t afford good footwear and many of them didn’t have appropriate footwear, so it’s going to make a great difference to the way they balance and exercise – it’s so positive. Thanks Shoe Clinic,” said class instructor, Krissy Christensen.
“We’ve never had a beautiful pair of shoes like these before – so thank you very much, we are absolutely delighted,” added class participants Trish and Janice.
Generally, these 30-day shoes will only be allocated under certain circumstances, but all Green Prescription clients can talk with their Healthy Lifestyle Advisor to access a voucher which will give them a small discount off Shoe Clinic Shoes.
