The most iconic children’s programme in the history of New Zealand TV is returning to film in front of a live audience this weekend – for the first time since before lockdown.
The site of this special occasion is Ngā Puna Wai, the home of community sport – and so much more – in the southwest of Christchurch.
“Our tamariki are familiar with Ngā Puna Wai as a place for meeting up with whanau and friends as spectators, participants and volunteers – at events through the year,” says Sport Canterbury Chief Executive Julyan Falloon.
“It’s a world-class facility where young people can take part in their favourite sports – and on the same track or pitch, see their sporting heroes compete, against the best in New Zealand, or even the world.”
On Sunday, What Now returns with the popular House of Funge to entertain and amaze Christchurch families, and there is still space to be part of the fun at Ngā Puna Wai. In addition to hosting sport at all levels, Ngā Puna Wai is a hub for wider community events, from the annual Relay for Life to neighbourhood walking groups and workshops on Taonga Takaro (traditional Maori games).
This weekend’s filming of What Now is even more special due to the time that tamariki have had to wait, to see the show return to a live audience.
