Sport Canterbury and Workplace First Aid Training have come together to renew their commitment to the Canterbury community, ensuring the well-being of our people and investing in the dreams of young athletes to compete at the highest level.
A partnership forged in late 2020, Sport Canterbury and Workplace First Aid Training have so far collaborated to deliver over 240 courses and trained over 4,200 eager participants, equipping them with the life skills to safeguard people and potentially save lives in emergency situations.
For every booking made on a Workplace First Aid Training course, a percentage goes to the Canterbury Sports Foundation, that is then distributed as financial assistance to support emerging athletes across our region. These grants are offered to organisations and individuals from different sporting codes to assist with travel costs, access to elite coaching and opportunities for skill development.
Vicki Hubble, Workplace First Aid Training Account Manager, expressed her excitement about the renewal, emphasising the ongoing support for the development of young athletes.
“Each person who enlists in our classes, not only improves their own first aid knowledge but also silently contributes to the sporting goals of our talented youth.”
“The renewal of this partnership means that we can continue to support the Canterbury Sports Foundation and the great work they do in supporting the community.”
Sport Canterbury Chief Executive, Julyan Falloon is pleased that the renewal is complete.
"We're delighted to be in a position to continue to ensure our up-and-coming athletes can invest in their own growth through the Canterbury Sports Foundation.”
“This successful renegotiation is great for everyone supported, and we hope these grants give that important financial aid to help the next talented athlete to come out of our proud sporting region.”
The Canterbury Sports Foundation distributed 28 Junior Athlete Scholarships in the 12-month period from 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2023.
