FIFA Women's World Cup™ Trophy Tour comes to Ōtautahi Christchurch

On Monday 26 July, we were thrilled to support an exclusive FIFA Women's World Cup™ Trophy Tour Breakfast held at the Christchurch Town Hall.

Young students from across Waitaha Canterbury came together to be inspired by guest speakers, develop their growth mindset, learn to improve self-awareness and tap into their full capabilities within their chosen sport.

The event invited presenters such as Gemma McCaw (New Zealand field hockey), Melissa Ruscoe MNZM (Former Football Fern and Black Fern) and two-time FIFA Women's World Cup™ winner, Kristine Lilly (US football) to tell their sporting journeys and answer questions from those in attendance.

Sport Canterbury’s Partnership and Activation Manager, Katrina Mansfield, believes the event was important due to Ōtautahi Christchurch missing out on being a host city.

“To create an intimate environment where the students could listen and take away wisdom from the legends who presented, will be beneficial for rangatahi in the room on their sporting journeys.”

We'd like to express our gratitude to the city of Dunedin for giving Christchurch the chance to be part of the trophy tour and host this event.

The FIFA Women's World Cup™ will begin on 20 July and conclude 20 August, with New Zealand hosting several games in Auckland, Hamilton Wellington and Dunedin.
