Our Regional Approach to Sport and Recreation Facilities
Across the Canterbury West Coast region, people of all ages receive countless benefits from sport and physical activity. They rely, however, on having the right spaces and places to keep active in their own communities.
The value of community sport and recreation inspired Sport Canterbury and the Greater Christchurch Partnership to create the first ever Canterbury Spaces and Places Plan: A Regional Approach to Sporting Facilities. This plan followed the Canterbury earthquakes, following the impact on the region's sport and recreation infrastructure. In the years to follow, in partnership with District and Regional Councils, Sport Canterbury has led the development of Spaces and Places Plans for both the South Canterbury and West Coast regions.
West Coast Spaces and Places
Thank you to our communities and stakeholder across the West Coast region, whose support with this project has been invaluable. Following 18 months of information gathering and consulation, we are pleased to provide this draft plan for stakeholder and community feedback.
