This is a vision for the recovery of sport and recreation - our Spaces, Places and People - across Greater Christchurch.

This Sport and Recreation Recovery Programme is a living document, and feedback is encouraged.

Canterbury's sport and recreation landscape has changed significantly as a result of the 2010 and 2011 earthquakes.

The Sport and Recreation Earthquake Leadership Group (SRLG) was formed in 2011 to inform, empower and support planning by CERA, Councils and Regional Sports Organisations. The Group’s role is to promote recovery and provide guidance, so that the vision of Canterbury as a world-leading region may be realised.

Recommendations from the SRLG have been formulated through extensive consultation with key stakeholder groups over a period of time.

This Sport and Recreation Recovery Programme (with a regional map) is a work in progress, will change over time and be shaped by your input. Sustainable decision making during recovery relies on having the widest possible view of the sport and recreation network. Please help create this view, and share your knowledge and feedback by sending us an email with your suggestions.
