Schools Embrace End-of-Term Challenge
Thursday, 26 October, 2017
On Tuesday 12 December, over 2,600 primary and intermediate students from across Greater Christchurch are expected to come together for the fifth annual Sport Canterbury Tough Kid event.
Sport Canterbury Tough Kid Christchurch once again invites students to participate in the ultimate end-of-term challenge, featuring inflatable obstacles, a water slide and mud pit. Fancy dress is a big part of the day, adding to the atmosphere and end-of-year celebration.
“The South Brighton location has encouraged even more students to get involved,” says Sport Canterbury Chief Executive Julyan Falloon. “We have been grateful for the loyalty of schools that have followed the event for four years in a row, welcoming this new location, which offers fantastic natural obstacles and open spaces.
“Each year our team enjoys getting creative with the course, which winds through forest and follows the estuary, finishing in South New Brighton Domain.”
Sport Canterbury fields phone calls and e-mails from teachers interested in entering their students in the event, from early in the year.
As Falloon points out: “No other event of this type exists for this age group in the Canterbury region.”
“It’s the perfect way to finish a busy year for both students and teachers, with a few surprises, plenty of laughs and pure fun.”
