Issue 5: March, 2009

Welcome to Issue #5 of Inside Sport Canterbury.

We turn the spotlight on teenage rowers this issue as they put in huge hours to prepare for the Maadi Cup regatta at Lake Karapiro. And we hope some of you will be at QEII on Friday night for some top-class track and field.

While it's great to watch some elite athletes, we also need to keep active ourselves and with this in mind, we've approached Dr Nick Kimber at the CPIT. Nick is in charge of the new Bachelor of Applied Science degree, which prepares people to work in the sports industry. He has written the first of a series of articles to help people considering running the 10km event at the SBS Christchurch Marathon on May 31. You can read his advice in our fitness and training section.

Martin MonganWe would welcome your best sporting photos for Inside Sport - send them with a relevant caption to sport@sportcanterbury.org.nz. We will use some in our Hot Shots section.

And check out the new interactive format for our sports quiz.

Best wishes
Martin Mongan, Chief Executive
