GAMING MACHINE FUNDING

Gaming Machine Trusts are a good source of funding for sporting organisations. Good planning and accurate form filling are the keys to success as well as ensuring the Trust you are applying for makes donations for the items or service applied for.
The following may be supported by one or more of the Trusts:

  • Sport and office equipment; capital development (as in painting, extensions, re-roofing, floodlights etc); travel costs (vehicle hire, planes etc); accommodation, uniforms, event costs such as marquees, security, advertising etc, ground maintenance (mowers, fertilizers, sprinklers etc), affiliation and entry fees, salaries, utility costs, insurance etc…
  • Generally international travel or any costs incurred overseas, dress uniforms, professional sport, retrospective costs or events, bar or food expenses will not be supported.

When applying, the following will help if followed:

  • Assemble all information you are required to and check it all so it complies with the Gaming machine trusts requirements
  • Contact funder or Trust if have any doubts and check documentation, get name and note that contact and what you were told and ask for it in writing if they are prepared to do this
  • When applying to Trusts state you are asking them to INVEST with your organisation and develop a partnership!!! We tend to talk about grants and donations – a more professional approach is to talk of investment and returns to the community and your club or sport.
  • Make sure deadlines are met re quotes – e.g You may have to submit quotes that are no older than 2 or 3 months
  • For salaries submit signed employment contract, JD, bank statement showing salary going out (remember privacy rules around other information on bank statement)
  • Be audit friendly by retaining copies of all minutes, resolutions, quotes, invoices, correspondence and application forms so can be checked by you, own audits and external audits
