Push Play

Push Play encourages people to get more active, more often. The main aim is to increase levels of participation in regular physical activity.
Push Play delivers the health messages related to increased physical activity, based on the recommendations of the US Surgeon General's report (1996). This report states that an accumulated 30 minutes of moderate physical activity, preferably everyday, will improve the health of most people.

Active Movement (0-5 years)

Active Movement raises the awareness about the importance of movement in the early years of life and how positive movement experiences are essential for helping a child to reach their potential.
The Active Movement Advisor advocates and facilitates training for teachers and parents in a range of activity guides.
For a set of booklets containing practical ideas please contact the Sport Canterbury Active Movement Advisor.

Active M8

Do you want a buddy to get out and be active with? ACTIVE M8 is designed in response to people telling us and research(1) that shows people are more likely to be active if they have a friend, family member or colleague to be active with. Basically if your meeting some one your more likely to stick to your plan!
In most situations an active person is buddied with a less active person, though really, however motivated you are a buddy is likely to help you commit to your plan and make physical activity a habit rather than an occasional or short lived pass time.
Have a look at MORE INFORMATION to see how you can register and help yourself and others make regular physical activity fun!

Green Prescription (GRx)

A Green Presciption is a health professionals written referal for a patient to increase physical activity levels as part of their health management.
The Green Prescription team supports inactive patients to embark on appropriate physical activities which can then be sustained as part of a healthy lifestyle.

Sport Opportunity

Sport Opportunity is a partnership between Canterbury West Coast Sports Trusts and the Halberg Trust, linking people with a disability to sport and active leisure in their community.
The role of the Sport Opportunity Advisor is to give people with a disability the same opportunities as everyone to participate, enjoy and achieve in their choice of physical activity. We aim to link people with physical, sensory and intellectual disabilities into community based sport and active leisure.
